Ak-Sar-Ben Information

All feeder calves exhibiting at Ak-Sar-Ben must be identified with a DNA sample and 4-H eartag by June 15 ($1 eartag, $5 DNA sample).

Market lambs require a 4-H tag and DNA sample ($1 eartag, $5 DNA sample) by the June 15 deadline. Light weigh lambs will to be released for shown, but will be retained for sale to the packer (under 115 pounds).

Meat Goats must be born after January 1. The also require a 4-H eartag and DNA Sample ($1 tag, $5 DNA sample) by the June 15 deadline.

Swine will be ear notched and DNA sampled by June 15. Any market hog at or above 325 pounds will not be allowed to show but will go to harvest. (Animals at this weight may experience packer discounts).

Identification sheets for all species are available at the extension office and follow the same deadline rules.
